ADOPT A DOG JIMMY

JIMMY DAP 1

Smart and handsome, with a serious lust for life is how we would best describe Jimmy!
Jimmy is a whole lot of action jam packed into a chunky little package, quick to catch on he would be great for a family interested in taking him to something like agility or fly ball. Jimmy gets along well with other dogs and would like a canine companion in his new home, one that is happy to play and run around with him. When Jimmy gets a good dose of exercise he is very cuddly and will accept endless belly rubs, he loves to please and is very treat motivated so is a blast to train. Jimmy has a coat that sheds so will require a quick brush to remove loose hair a couple of times a week. He is a house dog and must have access inside when his family is home. Jimmy is great with kids.

Jimmy comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, and heartworm tested. The adoption fee is $495. Jimmy is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Jimmy, please email Denise

ADOPT A DOG - THEODORE

THEORDORE DAP
on-trial

Hi everyone. My name is Theo, and if you’re looking for a dog to be your constant companion, I’m the guy for you. I like sitting on my person’s lap, going for walks with my person, going to coffee with my person, being brushed by my person … You get the picture. I don’t mind other dogs, but I’d rather spend time with my person. I’m a little bit scared of thunderstorms, but my little legs aren’t big enough to get me onto my person’s bed, so I just sit near her. In fact, I’m a little bit nervous about anything I don’t understand, or that surprises me. I’d rather not live with small children, because they tend to do things that might surprise me. But otherwise I’m pretty easy going – I just want to be with my very own special person. (I do shed a bit of hair, but I’m happy to be brushed.)

Theodore is a house dog and has a pretty coat that will require regular brushing and a trim to keep him looking good. He requires access via a doggie door or similar.

Theodore comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and he has had a dental. The adoption fee is $395. Theodore is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Theodore, please email Denise

ADOPT A DOG - BOBBY

BOBBY BOY
on-trial

BOBBY is your typical terrier, he loves long walks, playing with his toys, chasing birds and curling up on the end of your bed after a hard days play. Bobby is currently in foster care with an active couple who take him walking everyday, he is inquisitive and fun and makes sure you know when someones at the door or calling you on the phone.
Bobby is best suited to a home with no cats or small children, he can be picky about his doggy pals but we feel he may be okay with another relaxed female dog. Bobby is respectful of your pace and would prefer to sit next to you on the couch rather than perched up on your lap, he is housetrained and is a good boy when left at home alone.

We feel the perfect home for Bobby would be with an active couple who did not leave him all day, everyday at home alone, a quieter home with a yard he could run around in and have a game of tug would be ideal. Bobby has a short coat, that is easy to maintain but does shed so will require regular brushing.

Bobby comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and he has had a dental. The adoption fee is $495. Bobby is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Bobby, please email Denise

PEANUT DAP 2

PEANUT IS A GOLDEN OLDIE

Dear little Peanut came to us sad and in pain as she couldn’t use one of her hind legs because she needed cruciate surgery to repair her damaged knee. Fast forward to today and she is a brand new girl. Peanut is estimated to be 10 and has vision in only one eye due to a cataract but there is no slowing down for this girl. She has the use of all four legs now and she is making up for lost time. Peanut gets on well with her two foster dog friends that she lives with and delights in noodling around the garden beds with them looking for lizards and anything else they may find. She has learnt to walk on a lead and thoroughly enjoys getting out for a stroll around the neighborhood.

Peanut can be a little reserved when meeting new people but she soon warms up and is a very affectionate dog. She loves her food so along with breakfast and dinner being her favourite times of the day, cuddles with her family are super important as well. Peanuts ideal home would be one where there is another small dog for company and folks who either work from home or work part time. She isn’t suitable for a home with small children or cats.

Peanut’s coat requires a quick bath and brush, she is a house dog and uses a doggie door to go inside and out to the garden.

Peanut comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and she has had a dental. The adoption fee is $395. Peanut is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Peanut, please email Denise

SUNDAE LISA PICTURE 2 DAP

ADOPT A DOG - SUNDAE

SUNDAE LISA PICTURE DAP

SUNDAE is an enthusiastic, hilarious tripod dog. She has an undeniable zest for life, loves everyone and everything and is completely fearless. Sundae arrived into our care with a bad limp to her front leg, it was quickly discovered that she had an old fracture that had been left unattended and after vet investigation and discussion with multiple specialists we made the decision to amputate as it was causing her pain and discomfort. After her surgery Sundae woke up running, having three legs is certainly not something that has dampened her spirit. Sundae lives with 5 other dogs both big and small, she gets along well with all of them, including the resident cat. Sundae gets walked daily at the local dog beach where she runs, swims and plays with any dog up for a game. She is energetic, however tires reasonably quickly after her daily outing. Sundae is still very much a puppy, she is learning her manners and will need ongoing training to ensure she keeps out of trouble. Sundae is ideally looking for a home with another playful dog, she is great with children however does have a tendency to jump so older children would be better suited to her. Her new home, ideally would have minimal stairs, although she can get up and down stairs without issues the long term impact on her remaining front leg wouldn’t be the best. Sundae will need a good diet to keep her weight down so to not negatively impact her joints, she has a short shedding coat and only requires the occasional bath to keep her smelling fresh! She is house trained and requires access inside at all times.

Sundae comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested. The adoption fee is $495. Sundae is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Sundae, please email Denise

ADOPT A PAIR - DIEGO AND FRIEDA

DIEGO AND FRIEDA ARE GOLDEN OLDIES

DIEGO is a suave little man, he is sweet, friendly and loves his best friend Frieda more than anything!
Arriving with a severe flea allergy Diego was missing all the hair on his back, but after a few weeks in care his hair is returning to it’s full glory and soon he will look like a million bucks! Don’t let Diego’s little grey face fool you, he is very playful! He and his BFF Frieda play most of the day and after play they sleep for the rest of the day, they are friendly with other dogs but only really have eyes for each other. Diego’s new home must include his girl Frieda, access inside at all times, a comfy spot on the couch, a good diet, short strolls around the neighbourhood and lots of cuddles. He has a high maintenance coat that requires regular grooming to ensure he always looks his best.

FRIEDA is a leggy blond with a sweet, gentle personality.
Her one true love is her best friend Diego, so we are rehoming them as a pair… a ready made family! Frieda arrived in care with severe flea allergy and was missing a lot of hair along her back but after a few weeks of medicated baths, Frieda is looking much better. She spends her days playing with Diego the Pom , sniffing around the garden and napping. She is certainly still spritely for double digits and would benefit from a home that would take both Frieda and Diego for leisurely walks around the neighbourhood. A home where both have access inside at their leisure, a bed big enough for both Frieda and Diego, regular trips to the groomers to ensure they look and feel their best and of course adequate cuddles on the couch is what we are looking for, for this cutie and her counterpart, Diego

Diego and Frieda come desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and have had a dental. The adoption fee is $700 for the pair. Diego and Frieda are not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Diego and Frieda, please email Denise

BUNDY DAP 2

BUNDY is a GOLDEN OLDIE and a very sweet old soul who enjoys life to the max. Bundy does have a heart murmur so will need a family committed to daily medication and caring for a dog who does have medical issues. Bundy is currently doing very well on his heart medication Vetmedin.

Bundy’s new home should be with a family who have another small, friendly dog for company as Bundy does love other dogs.

Bundy has a lovely coat that will require regular grooming, he is a house dog requiring access via a doggie door.

SMALL ANIMAL SPECIALIST HOSPITAL REPORT:
Bundy had a grade 5/6 heart murmur best heard at the left apical region of the heart. The location of the murmur, combined with his breed and age are most consistent with a disease called myxomatous mitral valve degeneration (MMVD). This is a very common disease in older small breed dogs due to thickening and degeneration of the mitral valve. The disease can also affect the tricuspid valve (valve between the right atrium and ventricle of the heart) and, rarely, the aortic valve.
Echocardiogram (heart ultrasound) confirmed this disease as the cause of the heart murmur. His heart was enlarged but only mildly so at this stage.

Treatment:
Whilst Bundy does have heart enlargement at this time he does not have heart failure and as such early treatment with pimobendan (Vetmedin)
only is recommended at this stage to delay the onset of congestive heart failure. If Bundy does develop congestive heart failure, additional medications will be required for life.

Bundy must be monitored for signs of heart failure. The most effective method is to start monitoring his sleeping respiratory rate and keep
a log book of it. A normal sleeping respiratory rate is < 30 breaths/minute. Should his breathing rate become consistently > 40
breaths/minute chest X-rays may be necessary to determine whether Bundy requires diuretic treatment.

If Bundy is doing well, monitoring for progression of disease 6 monthly via chest X rays and/or echocardiography is recommended.

Bundy comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and she has had a dental. The adoption fee is $395. Bundy is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Bundy, please email Denise

OREO is a happy, friendly and playful little Pug mix. Unfortunately Oreo is totally blind and the probable cause of his blindness is that both of his retina’s are detached. We haven’t been able to take him to SASH to see Dr Mark Bilson our preferred ophthalmologist for a diagnosis because Oreo is currently suffering with severe kennel cough and it is highly contagious. Oreo will be firing on all cylinders in a week or so and then we will take him to that all important appointment.

Hank needs to find a new home urgently as his owner has had to move into a home unit. His owners are very sad but Hank really does need a back yard to mooch around in and a home unit just doesn’t cut it.

Hank is a very handsome lad with a wonderful nature, he gets along famously with humans of all ages and especially loves children. He is an active dog and will require regular exercise in his new home.

Hank is really good with other large dogs when he is at the dog park and he doesn’t mind playing with dogs who are smaller than him either. When he is on lead Hank may bark at other dogs to get their attention so that he can have a sniff and get to know them. In some dogs this can be typical behaviour if they have not been trained appropriately. Hank is a young dog and with the right owner will do well with some training in that area.

Hank comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested. The adoption fee is $295.00 Hank is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Hank, please email Denise

A mature lady with lots of energy. Like her namesake Lizzie Taylor has plenty of pep in her step, looks and is, adorable, and is a real charmer.

Lizzie happily greets everyone without any concerns. She has a coat requiring regular grooming and will need access to a doggy door, her main priority is to receive plenty of cuddles for which you will receive lots of kisses in return.

Lizzie Taylor comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, a heart worm test including a Proheart injection for protection against heartworm worm, she has also had a dental. Hello, My name is Alby. I came to DAP in an aeroplane all the way from Dubbo Pound. I landed and before I had time to think I was at the vet in Beverley Hills where they removed my bits and pieces, cleaned my teeth, gave me a vaccination and did a heartworm test, they also gave me a nice bath and groom. After my vet work was done I spent the night with a very kind lady until my very own foster carer picked me up and took me home to her place. Anyhoo, apparently I am awesome 😊 my current foster mum says I’m smart (cause I learnt the doggy door in 2 weeks) loveable, cause I luurrve everyone, energetic, cause I want to play with my foster sisters all the time and go for walks. Apparently I am now ready for my last move to my forever home, and I can’t wait to meet my new family.

Alby is a very happy and easy going little man, he gets along with everyone both human and doggie. We will only rehome Alby with another small, playful dog because he is used to having a constant companion. Alby’s coat will grow and require regular grooming, he is a house dog and uses a doggie door with ease.

Alby comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and he has had a dental. The adoption fee is $495. Alby is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Alby, please email Denise

ADOPT A DOG - GHOST

ADOPT A DOG - GHOST

GHOST DAP 1
on-trial

Ghost has a beautiful temperament, he is amazingly good with all people including babies. He loves and expects to be adored by people in the street, and he is constantly patted by adults and children alike when he is out on a walk with his foster carer. Ghost will sit quietly at the beach and outside the coffee shop and gym and is a total chick magnet!

When out on a walk Ghost is very sociable with other dogs. There are lots of stops when walking and meeting up with other dogs as he loves to do regular post and bum sniffing along the way. Ghost’s fitness has significantly improved since being in foster care, he now loves walking, swimming in shallow water and running on the grass.

Ghost’s diet is a chicken and vegetable mixture along with some dry food, it is important to feed him small quantities as he is prone to being a little overweight. He currently weighs 12.5kg and has lost weight while in foster care, our vet would like to see his weight get down to between 9.5kg and 10kg. Ghost adores chewing on a bone but doesn’t chew clothing or shoes.

GHOST DOES HAVE SOME IDIOSYNCRASIES, PLEASE READ THESE CAREFULLY BEFORE CONSIDERING ADOPTING HIM AS THEY ARE IMPORTANT TO GHOSTS HAPPINESS IN HIS NEW HOME.

Ghost loves to be on carpet but has issues with the tiled and cork floors both in his previous home and in his foster carers home. He needs to build up confidence before he will walk/run over any tiles or floorboards to get to the carpet/rug. His foster carer has put down scatter rugs to make it easier for Ghost to get onto the carpet or a rug. Ghost sleeps on his bed beside his carers bed. He is well toilet trained but does have the occasional slip up.

Ghost has a high maintenance coat that will require regular grooming to keep him matt free and comfortable. He is a house dog requiring access via a doggie door or similar. Ghost will be fine as an only dog providing his new owners are home more often than not, he would also thrive in a home with another doggie friend.

Ghost comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and he has had a dental. The adoption fee is $495. Ghost is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Ghost, please email Denise

AGE:   8

MINIATURE

Bindi just loves people. She is a very active, loving, playful and at times an independent little girl. We would love to see Bindi go to a home where she will be another family member as that is very important to her, she must be loved for herself and not just be a companion for another dog in the home.

She waits for her breakfast every morning and makes cute little noises if you aren’t quick enough. She loves you to play with her toys and chase her, with her butt up in the air saying “come and get me”.

When company comes to the house Bindi is the first to greet them, and all who meet her leave only after they have fallen in love with her.
When you stroke her if you stop her little paw comes up to tell you to keep going.

She is house trained and will cry at the door to go outside.
Bindi loves to walk and gets so excited that she tangles herself in her lead, she will need patience and training as her excitement gets the better of her and she is all over the place whilst trying to speed up the pace with her little body pulling with all her might.
She just makes your heart melt and causes a lot of laughter.
Bindi prefers to sleep under the covers with you. When it is bed time she prepares herself to dive under the blanket.
She also loves the car, sitting in her booster seat so she can see out with her little ears blowing in the wind.

A family with another dog and children would suit her perfectly as she does love children, or an active couple with time to play and another dog for company when Mum and Dad are away.

Whoever is successful in adopting Bindi will feel like they have won the lottery.

Bindi is a house dog requiring access, she has a high maintenance coat that will require regular grooming.

Bindi comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and she has had a dental. The adoption fee is $495. Bindi is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Bindi, please email Denise

Bronx came to us with a torn cruciate ligament on his back leg. His previous owner was unable to afford the surgery so we agreed to take him on, do surgery to fix his painful leg and then rehome him. Bronx is currently living with an older female, once he became used to her he decided that he does like a bit of company so a home with another compatible female dog will be best for him. When he has recovered Bronx will show you just how much he enjoys playing with his ball and other toys, we expect his recovery time from the cruciate surgery will be around 6 weeks so he should be available at the end of April all going well.

Bronx would love a home where he has access via a doggie door or similar, he sleeps inside in his bed and is a fairly low maintenance dog in regards to his coat. Bronx will need a bath and a brush to keep him looking and feeling great. Bronx will also need a nice walk every day once he is fully recovered.

ADOPT A DOG - QUEENIE

QUEENIE IS A GOLDEN OLDIE. Queenie came to us from Hawkesbury Pound after being adopted then returned when the vet told her new owners that she had a lump on her side. The Pound would have had no choice but to euthanise Queenie as she was considered unrehomeable. A very kind lady from the Pound phoned and asked if we would take her, and because nothing was confirmed re the lump on her side we decided to give her another chance at life. (We would have taken her regardless)

Queenie is in foster care with 3 dogs and a cat, she loves everyone and everything although if the cat was not in permanent residence I am sure she would cope quite nicely! Queenie is such an easy dog, she sleeps all night long on her bed combined with a soft blankie, she eats like a horse, loves children, other dogs and most of all cuddles and head scratches. Queenie is house trained provided she has easy access via a doggie door or open door. She will warn you if there is a stranger at the door but stops once she knows that you are aware.

Queenie’s soft tissue sarcoma may return, if it does she must see a vet and have it removed again. Our vet does not expect it to metastasis to any other part of her body nor does she expect it to return anytime soon. All vet/pathology reports will be given to her new owner to keep on file with their own vet. Queenie is currently as healthy as a horse and so deserves to find the best possible home as she was in a disgraceful state when she came to us as an extremely neglected dog.

Queenie’s coat will require regular grooming and clipping to keep her looking and feeling great. And Queenie is a house dog.

Queenie comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, heart worm tested, she has also had a dental and surgery to remove a soft tissue sarcoma from her side. The adoption fee is $395. CURLY STU 2

Curly Stu is one irresistible little dude. Curly is as happy as a clam unaware of the health issues that are currently wracking his tiny little body. (Please read below) We have started the long and costly process of getting Curly back to good health, it might take a while but we have all the time in the world and just want to see Curly pain free and living the best life he possibly can. Curly is not currently available for adoption.

Curly Stu has a grade 4 laterally luxated patella. Patella’s are usually medially luxated but Curly Stu’s is luxated on the outside (lateral)
These are the most severe cases and fortunately are the rarest. The patella is permanently luxated and cannot be manipulated back into the groove. These are the most challenging cases to correct and will require specialist surgery. Curly’s back left leg is affected and must be corrected so that he can walk like a normal dog, at the moment the affected leg gives way causing him pain and discomfort.

Curly Stu also has chronic osteomyelitis in his jaw. Osteomyelitis of the jaw is inflammation of the jawbone (mandible or maxilla). This type of inflammation is most often caused by bacteria due to dental disease as is the case with Curly. Hornsby Vet Hospital removed as many teeth as could safely be removed. He is on antibiotics appropriate to his condition and his mouth will be reviewed two weeks out from the initial surgery. He will require more surgery when the vet knows that his jaw is stable and not in danger of collapsing. Curly has stitches in his jaw where the teeth were removed so as to try and stabilize his jaw. He is on pain relief for both his leg and mouth until we know he is out of pain.

Curly Stu comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, he has had a heart worm test and a dental. The adoption fee is $495. Curly Stu is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Curly Stu, please email Denise

Both dogs play with any kind of ball or toy in the back garden, they wrestle making happy sounds, and they are both total cuddle bunnies. Suzie is a little timid when she first meets new people but within 5 minutes she is butter in your hands putting her paws on your lap for attention. Milla on the other hand is more confident when she meets a new person and demands lots of attention and cuddles, she has very black eyes that are hard to see in her photograph. Milla is good on a walk being very confident as she struts along beside her foster carer. Suzi has yet to go out on a walk.

Suzi and Milla are both house dogs, they are house trained and have coats that will require regular grooming and clipping. They must have access via a doggie door or an open door at all times.

Suzi and Milla come desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, heart worm tested, and both have had a dental. The adoption fee is $900 for the pair. Suzi and Milla are not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Suzi and Milla, please email Denise

ARCHER

Tilly and Archer were surrendered by their previous owner as she did not have enough time for them. Tilly and Archer are a bonded pair and we are committed to finding them a home together.

Tilly is a 4 year old Labrador Poodle mix, her Dad was a black standard Poodle and her Mum was a chocolate Labrador, Tilly looks more like her Mum and is very Labrador in nature. Tilly has a beautiful nature, she loves cuddles and thinks she is a lap dog, the closer she sits to you the better she likes it. Tilly has great manners, she sits on command, waits for her dinner, walks well on lead, is great in the car and above all she really loves to play. Tilly enjoys chasing the ball or the Frisbee then bringing it back and dropping it at your feet ready for another go. She has the most beautiful shinny chocolate coat and is very gentle with other little dogs. Tilly is in foster care with 4 little dogs, a cat, chickens and she is a perfect little lady with all of them. Tilly is toilet trained and will require access to the house at all times, she sleeps well all through the night.

Archer is a 7 year old miniature Poodle mix with a luxurious black/grey curly coat. He enjoys being groomed and pampered and was extremely well behaved at the doggie beauty parlor. Just like his sister Tilly he is a real snuggler, the closer to you the better, he loves tummy rubs and will pop up onto your lap in a jiffy. Archer like Tilly has lovely manners, he sits on command, waits for you to put his dinner in front of him, walks well on lead, and is great in the car. Archer is also toilet trained and sleeps well through the night.

Tilly and Archer love the company of people so a home where they will get plenty of attention, exercise and playtime with their humans is essential. They both require regular daily exercise particularly Tilly. Tilly and Archer really enjoy being part of the family. Neither dog has spent a lot of time with small children and Tilly may be a little over exuberant for them. Tilly and Archer’s foster carers have fallen in love with this ready made doggy family, they say they really are a pair of sweeties.

Tilly and Archer are house dogs who do require access to the home via a doggie door or open door. Archer in particular has a high maintenance coat that will require regular trips to the groomer and a nice brush every other day. Tilly has a low maintenance coat and will just require a bath and a brush a few times a week.

Tilly and Archer come desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, heart worm tested, and Archer has had a dental. The adoption fee is $495 per dog. Tilly and Archer are not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Tilly and Archer, please email Denise
