BASSET HOUND LABRADOR MIX
AGE: 18 MONTHS
ADOPT A DOG: BASSIE
With big ears and short legs, Bassie is basically an oversized dachshund!
Bassie is full of joy, mischief and will surely make you smile. Her favourite activity is a good old fashioned wrestling match with her doggy pals, closely followed by using her nose to snuffle about like all good hound dogs do!
At around 18kgs, Bassie is very much a medium sized dog, her coat is short and soft and does shed but that can be minimised with regular brushing. Bassie is fairly energetic, she loves to play and could do it all day, she walks well on leash and needs a decent daily walk to meet her physical exercise needs. Puzzle toys, Kongs and training games are also a favourite of Bassie, she is highly food motivated and would love a home with someone who is interested in having fun whilst doing some training. Ideally her new home will have another playful, robust dog in the home, as we mentioned Bassie LOVES to play, so her new doggy pal must have previous wrestling experience!
Bassie is house trained, crate trained, sleeps well through the night and would absolutely love to find that forever home with an active family looking for a fun, cheeky companion that is going to make them laugh and get out and about!
Bassie comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, and on heartworm protection. The adoption fee is $495. Bassie is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Bassie, please email Denise.
AGE: 1 YEAR
SIZE: MEDIUM WHEN FULLY GROWN
ADOPT A DOG - SUNDAE
SUNDAE is an enthusiastic, hilarious tripod dog. She has an undeniable zest for life, loves everyone and everything and is completely fearless. Sundae arrived into our care with a bad limp to her front leg, it was quickly discovered that she had an old fracture that had been left unattended and after vet investigation and discussion with multiple specialists we made the decision to amputate as it was causing her pain and discomfort. After her surgery Sundae woke up running, having three legs is certainly not something that has dampened her spirit. Sundae lives with 5 other dogs both big and small, she gets along well with all of them, including the resident cat. Sundae gets walked daily at the local dog beach where she runs, swims and plays with any dog up for a game. She is energetic, however tires reasonably quickly after her daily outing. Sundae is still very much a puppy, she is learning her manners and will need ongoing training to ensure she keeps out of trouble. Sundae is ideally looking for a home with another playful dog, she is great with children however does have a tendency to jump so older children would be better suited to her. Her new home, ideally would have minimal stairs, although she can get up and down stairs without issues the long term impact on her remaining front leg wouldn’t be the best. Sundae will need a good diet to keep her weight down so to not negatively impact her joints, she has a short shedding coat and only requires the occasional bath to keep her smelling fresh! She is house trained and requires access inside at all times.
Sundae comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested. The adoption fee is $495. Sundae is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Sundae, please email Denise
ADOPT A DOG - HANK
KELPIE STAFFY MIX
Hank needs to find a new home urgently as his owner has had to move into a home unit. His owners are very sad but Hank really does need a back yard to mooch around in and a home unit just doesn’t cut it.
Hank is a very handsome lad with a wonderful nature, he gets along famously with humans of all ages and especially loves children. He is an active dog and will require regular exercise in his new home.
Hank is really good with other large dogs when he is at the dog park and he doesn’t mind playing with dogs who are smaller than him either. When he is on lead Hank may bark at other dogs to get their attention so that he can have a sniff and get to know them. In some dogs this can be typical behaviour if they have not been trained appropriately. Hank is a young dog and with the right owner will do well with some training in that area.
Hank comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested. The adoption fee is $295.00 Hank is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Hank, please email Denise
SHIH TZU – MALTESE MIX
ADOPT A DOG - COMET
It is no secret that we love a senior citizen and Comet is no exception. This 12 year old gentleman is looking for a forever home. He is a total superstar who gets along swimmingly with his furry foster sisters therefore Comet would love a home with another small doggy companion. Comet loves a good nap and a cuddle and we think he deserves a home with a family who will give him lots of love.
Being a senior Comet does have a touch of arthritis, we have given him one course of cartrophen injections to help his old joints to function much more comfortably. Whoever adopts Comet would be advised to visit their vet to repeat these injections a few times a year, they are not at all expensive. So if you are looking for an older, relaxed, gorgeous little addition to your family please send us an email.
Comet has a coat that will grow and require regular grooming to keep him looking spit spot…he is a house dog requiring access to indoors 24/7.
Comet comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, he has had a course of arthritis injections and a dental. Sam is also on flea, worm and heartworm prevention. The adoption fee is $495. ADOPT A DOG - SAM
SAM IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
Sam is a very pretty boy who loves his adult human foster carers more than anything else in the world. Sam is young at 2 years of age and we feel times have been a little tough for him in his past life, he is very wary of children and can be reactive to them so a home without access to children will be best. Sam is also a bit of a chicken when it comes to being examined by the vet.
Sam is beginning to play with his furry foster family and doesn’t mind a ride in the trolley around the local Bunnings Hardware store…..he gets lots of admiring glances but children are told to just give him a smile and a wave or they may frighten him with faces that are too close to his.
Sam is able use the doggie door and will sit on command for his treats. He must go to a home with dog savvy people who understand the personality and character traits of a little dog who has not been in an ideal home until he came into foster care with Sushma and her lovely family. He really enjoys going out for a walk and is very good on lead.
Sam has a coat that will grow and require ongoing grooming, he is a house dog and would like access inside and out 24 hours a day via a doggie door or similar.
Sam comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and is on flea, worm and
heartworm prevention, he has also had a dental. The adoption fee is $495. Sam is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Sam please email Denise
ADOPT A DOG - BUBBA LOU
SHIH TZU MALTESE MIX
Poor Bubba Lou found himself in a country pound, he was matted to the skin and in a bad way physically and mentally, we knew that he would need a very kind and gentle family to bring him around and show Bubba that not everyone in the world is mean and unkind as we suspect his previous owners were!
Bubba is responding very well to his foster carer and her boys gentle touch, he is a character with his crooked smile and little teeth that stick out like pegs on a clothesline 🙂 his coat is beginning to grow back and has lovely patches of beige coming through. Bubba is going to be one very handsome boy when he is in full coat again in a month or so.
Bubba would like to live with a special family who may have experience with a rescue dog who has probably been poorly treated in the past. He is going to be best with a family who don’t have young children because he can be fearful and will give a growl if he is afraid. Bubba gets along with the dogs in his foster home. He has not been out walking just yet but in time and as his confidence grows we believe that he will come to enjoy a walk.
Bubba Lou is a house dog and will require access via a doggie door or similar. His coat will grow and require regular clipping and grooming.
Bubba Lou comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and is on flea, worm and
heartworm prevention and has had a dental. The adoption fee is $495. Bubba Lou is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Bubba Lou please email Denise
ADOPT A DOG - FARROW
UPDATE:- PATHOLOGY HAS CONFIRMED THAT THE LUMPS FOUND IN AND AROUND FARROW’S BLADDER WERE ALL BENIGN.
Farrow came from Blacktown Pound in awful condition, she had a filthy matted coat, some disgusting green teeth as well as other issues that were not revealed until she was under anesthetic for desexing. Farrow had a huge lump that had wrapped itself around her bladder, she also had a lot of small lumps coming off the original lump, she would have been in a lot of pain and very uncomfortable before these were removed. Our vet performed all of the necessary surgery and once recovered Farrow became a very happy and playful dog. She loves laying on the couch with her foster family begging for all of the attention and cuddles that are on offer.
Farrow would love a home with a family/retired couple who will give her all the love and attention that she has obviously missed out on in her previous life. A home where she will be the only dog will not worry her because she does like all of the attention for herself. Farrow would rather live with a family where someone is home more often than not, or could take her to work with them.
Farrow’s coat will grow and require ongoing grooming, being a Poodle she does not shed and is perfect for someone who has allergies. She is a house dog and must have access via a doggie door or similar at all times.
Farrow comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and is on flea, worm and
heartworm prevention and has had a dental. The adoption fee is $495. Farrow is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Farrow please email Denise

MALTESE – PUG – SHIH TZU MIX
Milly is a gorgeous girl, full of love and ready for a home of her very own. With her bright brown eyes, Milly will steal your heart. She does prefers to be the only dog in the home and would love a family that can spend lots of time with her, so is not suited to full time workers.
A walk around the block and a cuddle on the couch will make Milly a super happy lady! Milly has a shedding coat that will require the occasional brush and beauty treatment to keep her looking fabulous. She must have access inside at all times and is not suited to a home with cats. Milly is housetrained and a very affectionate, and she is a highly qualified cuddler.
Milly comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and is on flea, worm and
heartworm prevention and has had a dental. The adoption fee is $495. Milly is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Milly please email Denise
ADOPT A DOG - HARMONY
Harmony is a sweet little dog who came to us from Blacktown Pound. When Harmony came into care with DAP she was not in good condition, but since being in foster care with Karen and family she has blossomed into a happy, playful and healthy dog. Harmony is great with all humans both big and small, she loves a cuddle, sleeping on the bed with her foster carer, sniffing around the garden and going out on walks. Harmony has mastered walking on the lead extremely well.
Harmony will be fine to go to a home as an only dog, she loves all the affection and human attention that is available. She is a house dog requiring access via a doggie door or similar. Harmony’s coat will grow and require ongoing grooming to keep her looking and feeling wonderful.
Harmony comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and is on flea, worm and
heartworm prevention and has had a dental. The adoption fee is $495. Harmony is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Harmony please email Denise
ADOPT A DOG - CAMILLE
If you’d love a tiny family companion, Camille is your girl. While timid and still finding her way Camille is friendly, loves a walk and to sleep snuggled on the bed. She is very quiet and not a barker at all.
Camille gets along famously with her Maltese foster sister who at 13 doesn’t quite meet her “playful” needs but she is happy to have the company. When Camille is bored she explores in the garden, digging in the dirt and just sniffing around. Her ideal family would be mainly at home and she would prefer to have a companion dog to lay beside.
Camille is only 3 kilos and loves her food, she enjoys people coming and going but is more hesitant around young children and loud noises and will run to hide in the wardrobe if feeling threatened. A home without small children will be the best for her.
Camille’s coat is lovely and soft and will require regular grooming, she needs access to a doggy door or similar to explore as she pleases. She has had a few “accidents” but is now toilet trained, mostly sleeping through the night, but letting you know if she needs to go out.
Camille comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and is on flea, worm and
heartworm prevention, and a dental. The adoption fee is $495. Camille is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Camille please email Denise
ADOPT A DOG - ZINNIA
POMERANIAN GERMAN SPITZ MIX
AGE: 10 MONTHS
Zinnia is a Pomeranian – German Spitz mix. Zinnia was surrendered to a specialist vet clinic for euthanasia as she has a neurological condition, her owners were not in a financial position to pay a specialist neurologist to investigate her condition and to give a diagnosis. DAP were asked to take Zinnia on and of course we agreed to help her and to find Zinnia a new home.
The first stop for Zinnia was to see Patrick the neurologist at the Small Animal Specialist Hospital in Sydney. Patrick did lots of testing, viewed video’s of Zinnia while she was having her “events” and he came to the conclusion that Zinnia’s problem is probably related to the movement part of her brain. She is going back to see Patrick in another week as we have more video’s of her “events” for him to watch and hopefully get a definitive diagnosis. Zinnia appears to be epileptic but Patrick does not believe that she is, she is currently on medication but that may not be long term. Zinnia’s “events” are not frequent, it appears that once she settles into a new environment they happen less and less.
Zinnia is a free spirit, she is very young and behaves like any other dog of her age. We want Zinnia to have a young, playful MALE dog in her new home and to get lots of attention and exercise. Zinnia can be overwhelming for dogs who are older and that is why we want to rehome her with a young dog. Zinnia’s coat does shed and it requires regular brushing and grooming to keep it tangle free. She is a house dog and must have access via a doggie door at all times.
Zinnia comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and is on flea, worm and
heartworm prevention. Zinnia has also had 2 consultations with a neurologist and lots of testing done as she suffers with a neurological condition. The adoption fee is $495. Zinnia is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Zinnia please email Denise
MALE AND FEMALE
CHIHUAHUA MIX AND MALTESE MIX
AGE: 10 YEARS
ADOPT A DOG - MICKEY AND MINNIE
Mickey and Minnie were left at the pound with no one coming to claim them. Very sad for two 10 year old dogs who have had their whole world tipped upside down, thankfully for the better.
Mickey and Minnie are a bonded pair so must go to a new home together, we will not split them as Mickey does fret if his “wife Minnie” is not close by.
Mickey and Minnie are little house dogs requiring access via a doggie door or similar. They will suit a quieter home with a family/retiree who will give them all of the love and care they have sadly missed out on over the years.
Mickey and Minnie come desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, are on flea, worm and heartworm prevention, and have also had a dental. The adoption fee is $800. Mickey and Minnie are not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Mickey and Minnie please email Denise
ADOPT A DOG - FOMO AND BUTLER
FEMALE AND MALE
TERRIER MIX AND SHIH TZU MIX
AGE: 1 AND 5 YEARS
MEDIUM & SMALL SIZE
Fomo is a small to mid size girl (14kgs) who has not let a rough start to life get her down. Fomo is enthusiastic about everything and everyone, hence her name (FOMO = fear of missing out). She came to us with a huge fear of cages which is understandable when she found herself in the Pound in a cage at such a young age.
Fomo had not learned any basics in her previous life however since being with our foster carer Helen Fomo is learning new things and is now good at walking on lead, recall, fetch and sit. She is happy to play for hours and equally happy to have a smooch and a cuddle. Everyone who meets Fomo loves her, and all comment what a great little dog she is.
Fomo has a coat that does shed and will require brushing. Her coat is a lovely light tan and white mix and she has gorgeous brown eyes and a happy smile. Fomo is a house dog and requires access via a doggie door or similar.
Butler is a non shedding boy of about 5kg. He is a lovely combination of dark grey and white. Butler was named for his white waistcoat and gentle manner. It appears that Butler has been mistreated in the past and has some confidence issues with strangers as a result. He is a gentle boy who will panic bark at strangers but does not nip or bite. He is learning to trust humans that he doesn’t know and is making great progress in this area. With humans he knows, he loves nothing more than snuggling up on your lap or being cuddled.
Butler also loves to play for hours with his sister Fomo, or he will play with toys on his own. Butler was quite a barker when he arrived with his foster carer but this is improving with behavioral techniques. He has also been learning to walk on lead and recall.
Fomo and Butler met in the car park of the vet clinic when going into foster care. By the end of the car trip they were sleeping next to each other and have been inseparable ever since, their personalities compliment each other perfectly. Fomo brings out Butler’s courage and playfulness and Butler in return brings out Fomo’s calm side. Even though they don’t look alike and are an odd couple, Fomo and Butler have formed a beautiful friendship and for that reason we will not separate them.
We would love a home for Fomo and Butler that mimics their foster carers home and environment. They will entertain each other while their owners are at work or out for the day. Both dogs are very good with children.
Butlers coat will grow and require a trip to the grooming parlor every 10 weeks or so. His coat will need regular brushing and a bath in between grooming visits.
Fomo and Butler come desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, are on flea, worm and heartworm prevention, and have also had a dental. The adoption fee is $900. Fomo and Butler are not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Fomo and Butler please email Denise
MINI CATTLE DOG MIX
ADOPT A DOG - PEARL
Pearl is one of the cutest little dogs on the planet, weighing in at approximately 3.8kgs and looking like a Cattle dog makes Pearl extremely unique.
When little Pearl came to us we knew that she had a serious heart problem. Pearl was whisked off for a consult with cardiologist Dr Rita Singh who after an ultrasound of Pearls heart confirmed a diagnosis of a Patent Ductus Arteriosus or PDA. Pearls future was grim unless we did life saving surgery to close the hole in her heart that should have closed 3 days after her birth. We at Denise at Paws never say NO, it is not in our vocabulary, once a little dog comes into our care we do everything in our power to save the dogs life or to change the dogs life for the better. So off Pearl went to have her life saving surgery, she has fully recovered and will now lead a normal life just like any other dog.
Pearl being young is a very active dog, she has some cattle dog traits and loves to play with other dogs, children and adults alike. It is most important that Pearl is exercised and has another small, playful dog in her new home and lots of toys, she loves toys. Pearl will not be happy as an only dog because she loves doggie company, a cat will not suffice as a playmate in her world.
Pearl is in foster care with a small and large breed dog, she plays with one or the other whenever she is awake. Pearl also has the company of 4 young girls and she has them all wrapped around her little paws.
Pearl is a house dog requiring access at all times via a doggie door or similar, daily walks must be on the agenda and a family who will love Pearl forever only need apply. Pearl has a lovely grey, black, white and tan coat that will just require a quick brush and bath to keep her looking lovely.
Pearl comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and is on flea, worm and
heartworm prevention, and has had heart surgery for a PDA. The adoption fee is $495. Pearl is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Pearl please email Denise
ADOPT A DOG - BIKINI
Bikini is another of our cute little rescue dogs, she was so called because we think she is Itsy Bitsy! When Bikini came to us from the RSPCA in Canberra we knew that surgery to correct luxating patella’s in both of her back legs was required, never shirking our responsibility to our rescue dogs the surgery on both of her legs has been done and Bikini is well on her way recovery.
Bikini’s foster carer is getting to know her so more information will be available soon.
Bikini comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and is on flea, worm and
heartworm prevention, and has had surgery to correct luxating patella’s in both of her back legs. The adoption fee is $495. Bikini is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Bikini please email Denise

Lolly and Pop were surrendered to DAP due to a tragedy in their family that meant their owners could no longer care for them.
Lolly and Pop are two very sweet little dogs, they are a bonded pair and have lived together for most of their lives so for that reason we will only rehome them together. Lolly has a beautiful nature and just wants to be up in your arms getting cuddles and attention, Pop is also adorable and takes his job of looking after Lolly very seriously. Lolly and Pop would suit a home with a retired couple or a working couple, they are currently living with foster carers who work and enjoy life in their dog beds sleeping while their carers are away during the day. They are not barkers and are house trained. Lolly and Pop enjoy going on short walks around the block and get lots of compliments from those passing them by.

ADOPT A DOG - GORGEOUS GEORGE
MALTESE POODLE MIX
Gorgeous George is an absolute sweetie. He’s a wonderful walker on a lead. Aways very sociable with other dogs he meets, large or small and would be best with another dog as he doesn’t like to be left alone. He loves children who are gentle with him so even grandchildren would keep him happy. Gorgeous George responds well to positive guidance/training and is learning new things every day.
