ADOPT A DOG - SONNY

ADOPT A DOG - SONNY

Sonny is a dear little dog who acts much younger than his age suggests. He is a boy who enjoys the finer things in life like sitting on his foster carers lap, and doing a little dance for his favorite treat. Sonny will suit a home with a couple/single who are dog savvy and have no small children living in the home. He is currently living with multiple dogs, however he does like to be the centre of attention. A short stroll daily wouldn’t go astray, and would also keep him fit and healthy. Sonny is a small Maltese and has a coat that will require regular grooming to keep him looking beautiful. He is a house dog and is house trained, Sonny requires access via a doggie door or similar at all times.

Sonny has developed epilepsy while in foster care, he is now on medication which has his condition under control.

Sonny comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested, and he has had a dental. The adoption fee is $325. Sonny is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Sonny, please email Denise

JIMMY DAP 1

Smart and handsome, with a serious lust for life is how we would best describe Jimmy!
Jimmy is a whole lot of action jam packed into a chunky little package, quick to catch on he would be great for a family interested in taking him to something like agility or fly ball. Jimmy gets along well with other dogs and would like a canine companion in his new home, one that is happy to play and run around with him. When Jimmy gets a good dose of exercise he is very cuddly and will accept endless belly rubs, he loves to please and is very treat motivated so is a blast to train. Jimmy has a coat that sheds so will require a quick brush to remove loose hair a couple of times a week. He is a house dog and must have access inside when his family is home. Jimmy is great with kids.

Jimmy comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, and heartworm tested. The adoption fee is $495. Jimmy is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Jimmy, please email Denise

ADOPT A DOG - THEODORE

THEORDORE DAP

Theodore looks quite chubby in his picture because he has a lovely big, fluffy coat. Underneath all of that fur is a very tiny little dog. Theodore is an energetic old fellow who runs around the garden playing with the two elderly Poodles in his foster home. Theodore still has plenty of life left in him so would enjoy a home where he will be walked regularly and given lots of love and attention. Theodore is not suitable for a home with very young children as they do make him a little nervous. Theodore is a house dog using a doggie door, his coat will require regular grooming and brushing.

Theodore comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and he has had a dental. The adoption fee is $395. Theodore is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Theodore, please email Denise

ADOPT A DOG - BOBBY

BOBBY BOY

Bobby is your typical terrier, he loves long walks, playing with his toys, chasing birds and curling up on the end of your bed after a hard days play. Bobby is currently in foster care with an active couple who take him walking everyday, he is inquisitive and fun and makes sure you know when someones at the door or calling you on the phone.
Bobby is best suited to a home with no cats or small children, he can be picky about his doggy pals but we feel he may be okay with another relaxed female dog. Bobby is respectful of your pace and would prefer to sit next to you on the couch rather than perched up on your lap, he is housetrained and is a good boy when left at home alone.

We feel the perfect home for Bobby would be with an active couple who did not leave him all day, everyday at home alone, a quieter home with a yard he could run around in and have a game of tug would be ideal. Bobby has a short coat, that is easy to maintain but does shed so will require regular brushing.

Bobby comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and he has had a dental. The adoption fee is $495. Bobby is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Bobby, please email Denise

JACK DAP 2

Were you a sucker for Enid Blyton, Paddington Bear, the Folk of the Faraway Tree? Have I got the small woodland creature for you. Not quite dog, definitely not cat… something out of an English tale. Tiny button eyes, a little pink nose, snow white fluffy fur and a tiny frame, there is something different about this one. If you want a plug and play dog that will sit on the couch with you and cuddle straight up, then swipe past us. Jack is different, but he is his own kind of different and makes no apologies for that.

Jack needs a special home because he is different to any little dog we’ve met. He is HILARIOUSLY funny, you can see it in his face, quirky and different, but he is also quite odd. He is like having a wacky flatmate rather than a pet you can cuddle. He has rules, rule number one is DON’T TOUCH JACK. His foster mummy ignore all his rules and picks him up and cuddles him constantly much to his horror. His second rule is NO STRANGE PEOPLE IN THE HOUSE. Once again, his foster mummy ignores such nonsense and has a cast of thousands tramping through the place. NO GOING FOR A WALK! Nonsense, his mummy walks him every day. Every time his foster mummy thinks she might be about to push him to far, he rallies and takes another step of improvement.

One thing about Jack is that everyone who meets him adores him, he is a funny little character. He desperately wants to be loved, he’s just not been shown what that looks like. He doesn’t like being touched with your hand, but he loses his marbles with joy if you pat him with your foot. He will play with you as long as you want as long as you use your foot.

His foster mum has just had six weeks at home after surgery and has watched him blossom day by day and for that reason she wants someone who is home full time who can make him to focus of their attention. He would be fine as an only dog, he likes other dogs but doesn’t seem to need them or with a gentle, low energy companion. He is not one for wrestling.

He is fine with men and women and dogs of all sizes. He is great in the car, fully house trained, is great with the doggy door and sleeps happily in his bed all night without a peep. He rarely barks unless you are too slow with his dinner, but then it isn’t a bark, more of an on-going conversation about why you are late and how you should hurry it up. He hasn’t been tested with cats and he finds noisy kids a bit scary.

If you think you might be the one to coax this nutty little creature out of his hole, go to his facebook page to learn more about him. There you will get a much better idea of who he is and see more photos. https://www.facebook.com/groups/260015474148846/

Jack comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and he has had a dental. The adoption fee is $495. Jack is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Jack, please email Denise

ADOPT A DOG - PEBBLES

Hi everyone.
My name is Pebbles and I want to be the boss of everyone! But my foster people and my foster pack are teaching me that if I want to make friends I need to be a bit less bossy. And, really, I do want to make friends. I particularly like people. My foster mum thinks I would like to live with someone who would take me for lots of little walks (I like walks but I’ve got little legs and I get tired quickly), and perhaps with another confident dog who could help me practice being friendly. I’m good with children, and I ignore cats. Ps I LOVE eating sticks!

Pebbles has a coat that will grow and require ongoing grooming, she is a house dog requiring access via a doggie door or similar.

Pebbles comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and she has had a dental. The adoption fee is $395. Pebbles is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Pebbles, please email Denise

Crispin is a friendly bundle of energy who loves your lap and your company. He will follow you round the house and doze at your feet asking for a cuddle every now and then. He loves his food and is learning about dog biscuits and raw chicken treats, and is rapidly gaining weight after a life of neglect. He is leaning good manners and to listen to instructions, to sit and go to bed when told. His house training is still a work in progress as he probably did not come indoors in his previous life. Crispin’s foster carer is working with him and we hope he will have the house training down pat very soon.

Crispin has a low maintenance coat that will require a quick wash and brush.

Crispin and his foster pal Captain Moonlight have formed a lovely friendship enjoying playtime and sleep time together. It would be nice for them to go to a new home together but we understand that this may not be possible. As long as they both have a doggie companion in their new home.

Crispin comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and he has had a dental. The adoption fee is $495. Crispin is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Crispin, please email Denise

She is extremely affectionate and loves her Mum and Dad foster carers very much. When she originally arrived into care Jessie was afraid of both males and females but as each day passes she becomes more and more confident. Jessie is a house dog, she is house trained and uses a doggie door with ease. Her coat will require regular brushing to keep it free from knots.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
on-trial

Trevor is a dear little man who loves to be with his humans and play ball. He gets along very well with the other little dogs he is in foster care with and is very affectionate with his foster parents, one of his favorite things after playing with the ball is cuddles on the couch with his foster Mum and Dad.

Trevor is estimated to be about 9 years old, but he is a very active and healthy older gentleman. He likes being walked daily but his true passion is chasing balls. He brings the balls to his foster Mum and Dad anytime he thinks might be a good time and will then chase and bring back the ball for as long as you will throw it. Since arriving in foster care Trevor has has learnt to go outside for the toilet but we are still working on the doggy door access. Trevor would suit a home with another little doggy for company and preferably one who will play ball with him.

Trevor has a coat that will grow and require regular brushing and grooming, he is a house dog and requires access via a doggie door or similar.

Small dogs like Trevor can be prone to dental disease, we recommend that they have their teethed checked by a vet every year when they go for their annual vaccination.
Our vets have to do dentals on 95% of our rescue dogs with many losing teeth because their previous owners have not bothered to take care of their teeth properly. Please factor these costs in when thinking of adopting a rescue dog.

Trevor comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and he has had a dental. The adoption fee is $395. Trevor is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Trevor, please email Denise

PEANUT DAP 2

PEANUT IS A GOLDEN OLDIE

Dear little Peanut came to us sad and in pain as she couldn’t use one of her hind legs because she needed cruciate surgery to repair her damaged knee. Fast forward to today and she is a brand new girl. Peanut is estimated to be 10 and has vision in only one eye due to a cataract but there is no slowing down for this girl. She has the use of all four legs now and she is making up for lost time. Peanut gets on well with her two foster dog friends that she lives with and delights in noodling around the garden beds with them looking for lizards and anything else they may find. She has learnt to walk on a lead and thoroughly enjoys getting out for a stroll around the neighborhood.

Peanut can be a little reserved when meeting new people but she soon warms up and is a very affectionate dog. She loves her food so along with breakfast and dinner being her favourite times of the day, cuddles with her family are super important as well. Peanuts ideal home would be one where there is another small dog for company and folks who either work from home or work part time. She isn’t suitable for a home with small children or cats.

Peanut’s coat requires a quick bath and brush, she is a house dog and uses a doggie door to go inside and out to the garden.

Peanut comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and she has had a dental. The adoption fee is $395. Peanut is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Peanut, please email Denise

ADOPT A DOG - ANGIE

ANGIE DAP

Angie is a very active little girl for her age, as yet nobody has told her that she is a golden oldie. When Angie arrived in care with DAP she had large bare patches to her back and weeping sores to her legs, she was treated by our vet immediately and he recommended allergy medication and medicated baths. Angie’s hair has started to grow back very nicely and she is feeling much better.

Angie’s main hobbies include sleeping under her foster carers study desk while she is working during the day, or chasing lizards outside for hours. Sometimes she will take a dog toy and throw it around to entertain herself and every now and then she’ll convince her foster sisters to play with her. Angie is a very smart girl and learns quickly, her foster carer has taught her to sit for her dinner and wait until she has given her the ok to go to her dinner bowl.

Angie could learn so many things if her new family are willing to teach her. While she adores being near you for pats, she doesn’t tend to be a lap dog. Her carer has tempted her up on the couch for a pat and cuddle but she prefers her comfy bed by her carers feet. We think that once Angie’s is in her furever home and used to her new people she will soak up all of the love given to her. She is an easy going dog and simply loves her food which has made it extremely easy to give her any medication. Angie can be very independent but isn’t slow in telling you what she does and doesn’t like. For this reason, she would be better with adults and teenagers than young children.

Angie is currently housed with 2 large female dogs (35-40kg) and while she was hesitant at their size in the beginning, she has warmed up to them very well. Angie would do well as an only dog or with other dogs up to 20kg or so. She’s been introduced to many other dogs and hasn’t had any issues when meeting them. She has come out of her shell nicely but now it’s time to find Angie that special furever home. Is that you?

Angie is a house dog who does require access to toilet via a doggie door or similar, her coat will require regular brushing and trimming to keep her looking as lovely as she does today. Angie is bathed in a good quality shampoo and she is currently taking medication to keep her skin nice and healthy.

Angie comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and she has had a dental. The adoption fee is $395. Angie is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Angie, please email Denise

.

Joe is a Westie x Maltese, and boy doesn’t he know it! He’s cute as a button, but given half a chance he’ll let you know what he thinks and try to bend your will!
Joe is super affectionate. He loves cuddles and time on the couch with his significant humans.

Joe also loves his walks and time at the park. He’s really friendly to everyone he meets, but he can get over excited and frustrated when on lead – particularly when meeting other dogs. When off lead he needs a little work on his introduction skills as sometimes he can be a bit pushy – but he’s working hard on getting better and will only move leaps and bounds in the right direction with a training and help from his new owner.
This little man has a lot of personality – he is an absolute delight and will benefit from continued training and discipline to bring out his best. He would be great as an only pet, and equally would enjoy a home with another dog. He is great with older kids, so a home with older children would also suit.
Joe is toilet trained and currently sleeps in a crate inside at night. Joe has a soft coat that will require regular brushing and an occasional trim to keep him looking clean and tidy.

Joe comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and he has had a dental. The adoption fee is $495. Joe is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Joe, please email Denise

COCO WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION UNTIL EARLY FEBRUARY PROVIDING ALL GOES WELL WITH HER SURGERY AND RECOVERY.

Coco has had specialist surgery for her liver shunt and is now recovering with her foster carer.  We are all very pleased with her recovery so far.

Introducing Coco our lovely little Poodle Mix. Sadly Coco was surrendered to us when her owner realised that something was not right with her health, she would only eat vegetables and was also very thin. We agreed to take Coco on knowing that there was a health issue.

Coco was taken to Beverley Hills Animal Hospital where our vet Dr Dominic started with blood tests, the test results showed that there was something very serious going on inside Coco’s little body. The next step was a trip to the SMALL ANIMAL SPECIALIST HOSPITAL for a CT scan and more blood work, then by a process of elimination Dr Phil Brain diagnosed Coco with a liver shunt. Fortunately Coco has been diagnosed with an external liver shunt that should respond well to specialist surgery, Coco will be having her surgery in two weeks time and it will be done by our good friend and excellent specialist Dr Andrew Marchevski.

This type of surgery will cost thousands of dollars but once it is done and Coco has recovered she should go on to lead a normal and happy life.

If you would like to donate towards Coco’s surgery please go to the Give Now link https://www.givenow.com.au/deniseatpaws

Despite all of her ills Coco is a happy, friendly, playful dog. She gets along very well with the foster dogs she is currently living with and is enjoying life with her foster carers.

Lola is an energetic, playful pug who is full of life and is bound to make her new family laugh. Lola loves food like all Pugs and playing with her dog friends at the park, she doesn’t however like sharing her home with other dogs and for that reason is best suited as an only dog.

Going for walks is one of Lola’s top priorities and while she is still learning good leash manners, she has mastered sit, stay and shake. Lola will only be rehomed to a family who are home more often than not, she is not suited to be left alone while her family are at work. Pugs are a specialty breed and it is important to understand the breed specific issues that they can encounter. Pugs are also a breed that shed heavily however weekly brushing with a ‘furminator’ can help lighten the load of excessive pug hairs floating throughout the home.

Lola is a house dog and requires access to and from the home at all times.

ADOPT A DOG - JAX

JAX DAP MAIN

Jax is cute, playful and a whole lot of cheeky in a small package. Fairly typical of the Chihuahua breed, Jax believes he is the almighty ruler but is open to suggestions when it comes to his kingdom. Currently in foster care with a busy family, two dogs and a whole lot of cats, Jax is settling in well. He loves to wrestle with the other dogs and go on walks, cuddle on the couch and snuggle in bed after a busy day of play. At times Jax can get a bit bossy and needs a fairly dog savvy family who will let him know what behaviour is acceptable and what is not, he needs some guidance and direction but he is a fast learner and has improved greatly in the time he has spent in care.

Jax would best suit a home with no small children, he would like the company of another small dog who is up for a good game. His house-training has certainly improved but his new family will need to be consistent with continued training. Jax must have access inside at his leisure, he has a short but shedding coat that will only require an occasional brush.

Jax comes desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested and he has had a dental. The adoption fee is $495. Jax is not available for adoption outside of NSW (Except ACT). If you would like further information on Jax, please email Denise
